Research and Projects

My work takes a variety of forms, from academic research and writing to community-based education and collaborative initiatives. These endeavors engage questions of religion, politics, institutions, and social life.

Selected Projects

IDCL works to identify and celebrate the diversity that encompasses Texas, a state made up of many thriving and growing multireligious, multicultural communities that are increasingly under threat by coercive anti-democratic movements.

The Texas Academic Futures Lab (T/AF Lab) is a collaborative research project that convenes faculty and staff in Texas who have been deemed risks to their universities for exercising academic freedom concerning “controversial” subjects. Through the creation of a collective digital archive, we preserve these experiences, identify patterns of academic repression and resistance, and collectively imagine a liberated academic future within and beyond universities.

No True Texan Podcast

No True Texan is a podcast made by Muslims in Texas. Intentionally told through the stories, experiences, and questions of Muslims themselves. From religion and politics to family, food, education, art, and popular culture, we explore the many ways Muslims shape—and are shaped by—the places we all home.
